A Festive Day of the Week

Friday is a festive and even today Chuvash pagans celebrate it. In Chuvash it is called "erne kun" (a day of the week), "man erny kun", "man arny kun", "man arny" ( a big day of the week) or simply "uyav kun": oya kun" - a festive day". On Thurday ( that is a small day day of the week) in the evening all members of the family have a wash, cut their nails to be ready to take on clean clothes on Friday. On Friday they take on white shirts, they don't make up fire and don't work. They talk to each other, sitting in the street, in a word they have a rest. Earlier, according to the tradition North Chuvash people (today they are christened ) also celebrated Friday: they didn't work as well, having been afraid to be struck by lightning.

However, celebration of Friday appeared under Mussulman influence.
